The CSI5*-W TROFEO AIR EUROPA kicked off at 4 p.m., opening the afternoon session of the second IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK competition day.

Several obstacles of the 145 cm course designed by Javier Trenor, the course manager of the event, have complicated the performance of most riders. The penultimate obstacle, a triple, has been responsible for keeping most of the participants away from finishing the course without fault.

One of the few who managed to make a clear finish was the British Laura Renwick who almost at the end of the race placed first riding Dublin V in a time of 52.24 seconds. Shortly after followed Maikel Van der Vleuten with Beauville Z, who finished in second place with 53.02 seconds.

Third was the pair formed by the Belgian Celine Schoonbroodt-de Azevedo and his mare Venus de l’Eyre in a time of 53.19 seconds, which had managed to stay top of the table for much of the class.

The champion of the test of the previous day, the CSI5*-W ¡HOLA! TROPHY, Luca Maria Moneta has kept the public in suspense until the last moment. The Italian has been the last participant of this CSI5*, and made a spectacularly fast tour with Connery. It seemed that it would be able to beat the mark imposed by the British, however a knockdown in the first obstacle of the triple moved Moneta away from the podium.
