Madrid, November 6, 2018. IFEMA Madrid Horse Week, the most important equestrian event in Spain, returns this autumn with an exceptional program full of novelties, both in sports and in relation to horse riding for the whole family. From November 23rd to 25th in pavilions 12 and 14, IFEMA MHW will turn the capital into a benchmark in the world equestrian sport thanks to its incomparable sporting proposal and its offer of entertainment and entertainment for the whole family.

However, the MHW Foundation, organizer of the event, is well aware that this effort to turn Madrid into the epicenter of the horse world would not make sense without consolidating, one more edition, its commitment and its active and voluntary contribution in the relative to social, economic and environmental improvements.

The incomparable leisure offers at the Commercial Village, where entertainment and fun will be held for three days full of activities for the whole family, will be reinforced by a series of initiatives in which IFEMA MHW will show its commitment to people, their respect for animal rights and their concern for the impact on the environment, far beyond simply complying with current regulations in this regard.

Thus, this first commitment with people can be seen in the agreements of IFEMA MHW with various associations and ONGs to host groups of children at risk of exclusion. The objective is that the kids can enjoy direct contact with the world of the horse and participate in their already traditional inclusive and adapted horse riding sessions, among other activities. On Sunday 25, there will be an exhibition of Para-Equestrian Dressage in the Main Arena, in an intermediate of the Grand Prix of the FEI Dressage World Cup.

In addition, the collaboration with these associations goes beyond the solidarity activities of the Commercial Village, which this year will be present for the first time the Bertin Osborne Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life of families of children with brain injuries. Thus, the two expected sessions of Pony Turf, one of the funniest competitions and applauded by the public of IFEMA MHW, will be sponsored by ASION (Infant Oncology Association of Madrid) and La Sonrisa de Alex (Foundation for research and treatment of Ewing’s sarcoma).

However, the sense of social responsibility of IFEMA MHW will not only be evident in these agreements with associations and ONGs, but it can be seen in the Foundation’s own policy, committed, for example, to hiring personnel at risk of vulnerability. social during the celebration of the event, as well as in its exquisite treatment to the stars of the event: the horses.

Commitment to caring for animals

In the field of respect for animal rights, IFEMA MHW, as demonstrated since its first edition, considers the horses’ absolute protagonists of the event, so the concern and commitment of the organization with their welfare is paramount. In this way, it will contribute to the promotion of respect for animals giving prominence to the currents most committed to the welfare of horses, such as ethological riding, which improves performance and the relationship with the animal.

In addition, it will open the doors of its commercial zone to firms and entities that ensure the protection of these animals. Thus, among others, IFEMA MHW will host the SAM Project, an initiative that plans to create a sanctuary for horses on the island of Menorca and cohesion environmental protection, tourism, contact with the rural environment and animal welfare. Both initiatives will be involved in various activities in order to actively take advantage of the notoriety of IFEMA MHW as a platform from which to launch their awareness campaigns and promote the application and improvement of current laws regarding animal welfare.

Finally, its commitment to environmental protection will be concretized in its effort to give an optimum treatment to the waste generated by the more than 400 horses that will take part in IFEMA MHW, with the aim of minimizing the impact on the environment. For this, IFEMA MHW has launched the so-called Manure Management Plan, in which the CLECE company, authorized for waste management, will collect, between November 21st and 26th, manure and the remains of the beds of the horses, stored in the containers that will be located in the boxes area.
