Madrid, 24 de noviembre 2018 – A class under the rules of “Winning Round” table is synonymous with adrenaline and entertainment, and the CSI5*-W TROFEO ESTRELLA DAMM was not going to be an exception.

The best riders of the event fought this afternoon for a position on the podium of the big class of today. A very squared 150 cm course has been the first barrier that the participants have had to overcome, where the fifth obstacle – a double – has been the main one in charge of making the screen for the Winning Round.

In this first course, many well known riders such as the Frenchman Simon Delester, second place in the CSI5*-W Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio Trophy that took place yesterday, fell off the table. None of the Spanish participants has been able to qualify for the Winning Round, with Gerardo Menéndez Mieres as the best classified with a 21st place.

The Winning Round has been loaded with tension and the public had many good riders to choose from to place their bets.

Finally it was the German Marcus Ehning, known as “the maestro”, who was in charge of giving us a fast yet elegant course, which has secured him the first place with his horse Funky Fred in a time of 37.18 seconds.

Second was the Italian Emanuele Gaudiano with Chalou, who was not far from Ehning, finishing the course in 37.83 seconds. Being the last participant, the Frenchman Guillaume Foutrier conquered the bronze medal riding Tchin de la Tour in a time of 38.08 seconds.

CDI-W FEI DRESSAGE WORLD CUP GRAND PRIX EULEN TROPHY

This year, IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK is for the first time in Spain, stage of the Dressage World Cup, which started today with the CDI-W FEI DRESSAGE WORLD CUP GRAND PRIX EULEN TROPHY.

The main star of this afternoon was Beatriz Ferrer-Salat with her spectacular horse, Delgado, who performed an amazing reprise with a final score of 75.761%. The IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK Main Arena is the perfect environment for Ferrer-Salat to dazzle the Dressage fans. The Catalan has not missed any edition since they began the first dressage classes at IFEMA MHW in 2014, and the rider herself recognizes that this is a competitions she truly loves.

Despite the great difference in score, her compatriot Claudio Castilla Ruiz did not disappoint the public riding Alcaide and ending with 72.457%, which guaranteed him the second place. Third was the British Richard Davison with Bubblingh and a final score of 71.391%.

The final dressage class of this event, the CDI-W GRAND PRIX FREESTYLE ALFONSO X EL SABIO, will take place tomorrow, Sunday, at 5:30 p.m.

CSI5*-W AIR EUROPA TROPHY

Several obstacles of the 145 cm course designed by Javier Trenor, the course manager of the event, have complicated the performance of most riders from CSI5*-W TROFEO AIR EUROPA. The penultimate obstacle, a triple, has been responsible for keeping most of the participants away from finishing the course without fault.

One of the few who managed to make a clear finish was the British Laura Renwick who almost at the end of the race placed first riding Dublin V in a time of 52.24 seconds. Shortly after followed Maikel Van der Vleuten with Beauville Z, who finished in second place with 53.02 seconds.

Third was the pair formed by the Belgian Celine Schoonbroodt-de Azevedo and his mare Venus de l’Eyre in a time of 53.19 seconds, which had managed to stay top of the table for much of the class.

CSI2* RODILLA TROPHY

The Catalan Otti Verdú and the Basque Kevin González de Zárate must be proud after their performance in this event. The IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK Main Arena seems to bring luck to both Spaniards, who always finish each edition with at least one podium each.

The CSI2* RODILLA TROPHY has not been an exception. The large CSI2* class, with a height of 140 cm, was the perfect setting for Otti Verdú with her incredible mare, Top Lulu, and Kevin González de Zárate riding Urban des Grezils, to win the gold and silver medal respectively. The young rider from Reus stopped the clock in an impressive time of 17.99 seconds, while González de Zárate followed her with 18.06 seconds.

Third has been the Egyptian Sameh El Dahan riding Miss G Tracey that endend up very close to the Spaniards, with a time of 18.12 seconds.

CSI2* COMUNIDAD DE MADRID TROPHY

The CSI2* COMUNIDAD DE MADRID TROPHY, with a height of 125 cm was a very fluid class where many young Spanish riders are encouraged to participate to start gaining experience.

Riders and horses got up early to start warming up before facing the first course of this Saturday. The route has not given many difficulties, making it possible for the majority of participants to be able to finish without fault.

The winner of this class was Jose Fumero Hernández with his mare Garsina, in an unbeatable time of 48.43 seconds. With barely a second of difference followed him the pair formed by Pedro Fernando Mateos Rodríguez and Ultra Lord. The Catalan rider, Patricia Segura closed the Spanish podium riding Venu Tot in a time of 51.66 seconds.

SEGUNDA EDICIÓN BACARDÍ COPA “MAESTROS DE LA VAQUERA”

This Saturday has started the SECOND EDITION BACARDÍ COPA “MASTERS OF LA VAQUERA”, an unmissable event that took place in the Salón del Caballo, located in the pavilion 14.

Jónatan Peña and his horse Talavante, winner of the I MAESTROS DE LA VAQUERA CUP that took place last edition of IFEMA MHW, put the stands back with a spectacular performance getting the first place with a score of 283.33.

The second has been for the current Spanish champion of Doma Vaquera, Alvaro Teba del Pino, with his horse Manolete that finished with 281.50 points. A rider who debuted today at IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK, the Andalusian José Manuel Martín Japon who, along with his horse Bondadoso, took third place with a score of 277.33.

On Sunday at noon will begin the BACARDI “MASTERS OF LA VAQUERA” FINAL CUP that will end a competition that began in April and has had seven scoring events before the final in Madrid.

Young visitors enjoyed this afternoon the AON PonyTurf, a charity project that has the collaboration of different foundations dedicated to the protection and care of children. The class, presented by ASION, has been won by Beatriz Plazas with Rocky, a pony who has won all the races in which she has participated. However, Anna Sánchez has had the best results in this I PonyTurf Championship. As a result, the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela has gave her a jockey jacket from the I PonyTurf Championship.
